Glide alongside Dorothy, Toto, and her unforgettable friends on a dazzling journey to the Emerald City in this spectacular, family-friendly performance.

This is an amateur production, by Riverside Chelmsford Ice Skating Club.

The show is around two hours long, including a 20-minute interval, and is suitable for all the family.

We recommend that you dress warmly, as the ice rink is cold.

Children aged under two years old sitting on laps do not require a ticket.

The price includes a £1.50 transaction fee per ticket.

All rink side seats will be behind the ice rink safety glass, which we cannot remove for the performance.

The best tickets available are stage seats.  These are tiered seats on the ice facing the show.  All seats are tiered apart from row A (front row).

The next-best seats are ice seats located on the ice, running along the ice pad.   Front row ice seats (row A) are more expensive then the second row (row B). Ice seats are on the flat.

The very front row of the rinkside seats (blocks A, B, C, E, F, G and H) which are closest to the barrier are not available to be sold and are not on the plan (row A on the screenshot below). The first row available to purchase is row B. The view of these is not restricted.

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 11 February at 9am.

  • You can book your tickets online or in person from the Chelmsford Theatre box office.
  • Tickets will not be on sale by phone, or at Riverside Leisure Centre.
  • We will send all tickets via email. You cannot collect tickets from Riverside or the Chelmsford Theatre box office.
  • You should bring your printed e-ticket or show your e-ticket at the door to gain entry to the rink. 

Booking accessible seats

  • If you require a wheelchair space but are not a member of the Chelmsford Theatre Access Scheme, you can call Chelmsford Theatre box office, who can book a wheelchair space and a free companion seat for you.
  • If you do not require a wheelchair space but need a carer to attend, you can contact the box office, who can book a free carer ticket for you.
  • There are two wheelchair spaces on the ice pad, and two in the designated wheelchair area behind the glass.

Chelmsford Theatre Access scheme members

  • If you are a member of the Chelmsford Theatre access scheme, you can book a wheelchair space and free companion seat online. 
  • If you do not require a wheelchair space but still need a carer to attend, you can book a free carer ticket online.

You can get a discounted ticket if you are:

  • under 16 years
  • over 65 years
  • in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Personal Independence Payments, Disability Living Allowance or have a Veteran ID card

Discount prices are available on all types of seat.

We are unable to offer exchanges or returns on tickets, unless the show has been cancelled.

However, we do have a Theatre membership scheme, which allows you to exchange or receive a credit for tickets up to 24 hours before a performance, as well as many other benefits.

We recommend that you allow plenty of time to park and walk to the centre.

There is a pay and display car park for customers at Riverside Leisure Centre, however parking is limited so we recommend you consider alternative parking sites nearby.

  • We have a specific area suitable for wheelchair users, which has space for up to four wheelchairs. If you need more than one carer, you will need to buy a seat in the closest block (block E).
  • If you have difficulty walking, you should be aware that the rink side and stage seating is tiered. If you have accessible needs, we recommend that you book an aisle seat.
  • The show will feature music, loud noises and flashing lights, including strobe lighting and pyrotechnics.
  • We have an accessible toilet next to skate hire. We also have two Changing Places units; one on the first floor, but this is on the other side of the mezzanine. The second is in pool changing on the ground floor.
  • We have baby changing units in our ice rink accessible toilet, and in the café toilets.
  • Our ground floor Riverside café will be open throughout the performance, selling hot and cold food, drinks, and snacks.
