Over 50s classes
Keep fit, stay social and enjoy yourself at our over 50s classes and sessions.
We offer a variety of different activities and environments for over 50s to participate in physical activity at an intensity that suits their needs.
The minimum age for classes is 14 year old, but classes marked with a * are for over 16s only.

Forever Fit
Our Forever Fit classes are created with the over 50s in mind, taking into account changes in the body. Join in with this super fun aerobic workout, combining cardio and toning moves to strengthen and keep you fit. Throwback tunes and motivating instructors lead our popular Forever Fit classes.
Young at Heart
This group exercise class aims to help everyone improve their mobility, confidence and posture to aid in fall prevention.
You will work at your own pace through seated or standing for mobility, stretching and strengthening exercises. An expert instructor will be on hand at all times to advise and assess.
This class is suitable if you suffer from:
- Motor Neurone Disease
- Parkinson's
- Stroke
- Heart Bypass
- Joint Replacements
- Cancer
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Spinal Surgery
- Early Onset Dementia/Alzheimer's
Join your fellow class goers for a cup of tea or coffee after the class which is included in the cost.
This session runs for 60 minutes, is low impact and is low intensity.

Our exercise classes are very popular, so we advise booking in advance.
You can:

You can book onto classes:
- ten days in advance if you have a monthly membership
- seven days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Plus card
- two days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Lite card

- You will need to book a session in advance to guarantee your space.
- If you do not check-in, we will charge you the full amount for the session.
- Please make sure that you have registered your email address with us in order to book online.
- If you can't attend a class that you have booked onto, you must cancel at least two hours before it starts.
- You can cancel online or via the app, by calling 01245 615050 or in person.
- We will charge you the full amount for the class if you do not cancel in time, or if you do not attend.
- You will need to collect a ticket from reception when you arrive for your class.
- Monthly members can swipe through the barrier and register their attendance.
- You will not be allowed entrance to any class if it has already started.
- To allow time for changeovers, classes will finish five minutes before the advertised time.
Changing rooms
- There is a male group changing area and a female group changing area located by studio 2 on the first floor on your way to the sports hall.
- A Changing Places area is located by studio 1 on the first floor.
Lockers
- Lockers are located in the changing rooms by studio 2, and in the corridor between studios 1 and 2.
- Lockers in the dryside changing rooms are cashless, so you need to have locker access added to your Our Chelmsford card, wristband, or phone sticker. You can ask for this at reception. If you do not have an Our Chelmsford card already, you can buy one at reception for £2.
- Lockers in the corridor between studios 1 and 2 need a £1 coin or token to use (refundable).
- We check and empty the lockers every night. We will hold any items we find at reception for one week. We will then disposed of them if they have not been collected after this time.
